Ingredients:
1 cup Toor Daal
4 cups Spinach leaves
2 chopped Tomatoes
1 small onion (about ½ cup chopped)
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp Cumin seeds
6-8 Curry leaves
1 tsp Urad Dal
5-6 Dried Red Chilles
1 tsp Chilly powder
Turmeric powder, a pinch
1/2 tsp Tamarind paste
1-2 tbsp Oil
Salt
Serves: 4
Preparation:
Boil together Toor daal, tomato and spinach(Pressure cook). Keep it aside to cool.
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds. When they start to splutter, added urad dal. Then add dried red chillies, onions. When onions are almost done (pale yellowish), add turmeric powder, chilly powder and mix well.
Now heat the daal mixture and add the above seasoning to it. Add salt, tamarind paste and cook for 10-15 mins.
Dish is now ready to be served with rice or chapatis.
