Ingredients:
1 cup Moong Dal (split yellow skinless ones)Ingredients:
1 ½ cup Milk
1 cup Ghee
1 ¼ cup Powdered Sugar
¾ cup Sliced Almonds and Cashews
Preparation:
Wash moong dal and keep it soaked overnight or for min of 3 hours.
Grind the dal to a coarse mixture, ensuring its not ground to a fine paste. It is important to have the right consistency.
Take 1 tsp ghee in a pan and fry it till light brown on low flame. Once done, keep aside.
Heat a nonstick pan for few mins. Once hot, bring flame to a low, put the dal and stir for 2 mins. Add ghee and stir continuously till the micture turns pale brown in color, which should take about 45 mins.
As the color gets lighter, the mixture begets an aroma and becomes a dry powder.
Add sugar and mix well. Stir in milk till it is completely absorbed.
Mix almonds and cashews and stir.
Halwa is now ready to be served!
