This is a popular Konkani dish usually cooked with prawns. The vegetarian version is prepared with potatoes...
Ingredients:
3 small potatoes (About 1 1/4th cup of chopped potato pieces)
7 Dried Red Chillies
1 Cup Grated Coconut
1 tsp Asafoetida
Salt to taste
2 tsp oil (Preferably coconut oil)
Serves: 3
Preparation:
Boil the potatoes and keep aside. Once cooled, peel them and cut into small cubes.
In a pan, slightly fry the dried red chillies for about 2 mins on low flame.
Grind together grated coconut, fried red chillies and salt to get a fine paste(masala). Add water as required while grinding.
Once the masala is ready, start cooking it and add asafoetida. Add potato pieces and bring it to a boil and mix well. Turn off the heat and add oil. Close the lid for about 10 mins before serving.
Dish is now ready to be served with rice or chapatis.
