Mangalorean Prawn Curry

This recipe is a slight variation of the traditional phanna upkari. Thanks to my sister, Smitha, for sharing it! We really loved making and eating it.
Ingredients
1 lb prawn, cleaned and deveined
3/4 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 Onion
1 small tomato
1tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp coriander seeds
1/2 tsp tamarind paste
1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 cup grated coconut
1/2 tsp garam masala
Salt
Oil

Serves - 2 to 3

Method-
Mix the cleaned prawns with coriander powder, turmeric powder, 1/4 tsp oil and mix well and keep aside for about 20 mins
Grind the grated coconut, coriander seeds, chilli powder, tamarind paste and ginger garlic paste to  a dry, coarse mixture and keep aside.
Saute the onions in oil till they are golden brown.
Add chopped tomatoes and fry for a couple of mins till the tomatoes are cooked.
Mix in the ground mixture prepared earlier and fry two more minutes.
Add prawn, cover and fry for about 5 mins, stirring occasionally. Add garam masala and mix well.
Add enough water for the prawns to be cooked. Add salt, mix well and close the lid.
Cook on low flame, stirring occasionally, for about 20-25 minutes or till the prawns are cooked and tender.
